Who Wants To Be a Millionaire -- Play It!

2001 to 2005

This live version of a television game show that was really popular a long, long time ago allowed guests to play a version of the TV game themselves. The only real difference, aside from some practical ones, between the game in the park and that on television was that guests have no chance whatsoever of winning a million dollars. They could not, in fact, even win one dollar. The only prizes available in the California Adventure version of the game were hats and collectible pins, but an executive decision had been made to keep "Millionaire" in the attraction's title because "Who Wants To Win a Hat" just didn't have the same ring to it (although a study by the Rand Corporation indicated that the "Hat" title might actually have increased the attraction's popularity and ensured its survival).

Fans who mastered the game in the park, kept in mind the following:

  • The answer to the "put these in order" question is A, C, B, D
  • The answers to the other questions are (in order, beginning from the moment the park opens and cycling throughout the day): A, B, C, B, A, D, A, B, B, A, D, D, A, A, B, A, B, C, D, A, C, C, C

The attraction was finally shuttered in 2005 when, due to some kind of weird software glitch, someone actually did win a million dollars, which at the time was more than California Adventure made in a month.
