We suppose that there is a slim possibility that our information was even more incorrect than we intended. But then again, we got it straight from Lightning McQueen himself, and given the choice between believing a talking car or a blog-commenting museum — well, we don’t know how to decide.

The drawings and clay models were not used in the original film, because, as you say, it was computer animated. Rather, these sketches and models were used by the animators in the pre-production and pre-planning stages, to help inspire the final computer animated artwork.
